June Secret Word Giveaway *Winner*!

Congratulations to Vencine, who was chosen by random draw as the winner of this month's Secret Word Giveaway.

The Secret Word for June was "Name" in honor of the theme: What's in a Name Designer Challenge. Members of my mailing list learn the Secret Word in the monthly newsletter, along with instructions for how to enter the Secret Word Giveaway by simply leaving a comment on the ECD blog post incorporating the secret word.

Vencine's is the lucky winner this month for her comment:

"Love the Name, Whiskers, for the cat. So appropriate and cute!"

She has won her very own #975 Adirondack Chair Pop it Ups die plus her choice of any Character die to sit in the chair.

Congratulations, Vencine! Check your e-mail for some happy mail!

Or another way to join the mailing list is by using this handy "text to join" method. No need to do both, either the blue button above or the "text to join" below accomplishes the same thing. (ECD supplies used: Cheepers the Chicken, Farm Greetings Clear Stamps, and Ring Accordion scalloped circle die. Other supplies: Stampin' Up! Hardwood stamp, white embossing powder, red, brown, cream, yellow and white cardstocks)

Last week Elizabeth Craft Designs celebrated the arrival of the Farm Collection in grand style, sponsoring a blog/Facebook giveaway of the entire collection to two commenters, chosen by random draw.

Congratulations to the two lucky winners, one from the blog comments and one from the Facebook comments.

Deborah on Facebook said:

That is awesome, I love those animals with the barn - I'm sure the kids on the school bus would love it for their birthday. My husband is the school bus driver and I make a card for a child whose birthday fall on the day to make the child feeling special

Angelique on the ECD blog said:

Because of you I AM NEVER LEAVING MY CRAFT ROOM! The Barnyard card will be perfect for my Mom. She grew up on a farm and when I was a little girl I enjoyed the time I spent with my grandfather on his farm, feeding the chickens and the pigs, milking the cows, etc. I can’t wait for these to become available.

Deborah and Angelique will each receive a full Farm Collection.

If you missed the video tutorial on adding a Floating Floor beneath the Barn for dynamic pop-up scenes, here it is again:

The Farm collection is now in stock and shipping. As always, I encourage you to give your local independent craft store your business first, but for those of you who are sadly without local store options, here are some links.

Happy Farming!

Winners! Secret Word Giveaways for March/April

Because I missed getting a newsletter out in March, I combined the Designer Challenge for March: Make 'em Laugh, along with the Designer Challenge for April: Accordions with DC Team and Friends into one double Secret Word giveaway with this month's newsletter.

To celebrate the release of the new Farm Collection, shipping at the end of this month to stores near you, the Secret Word was "Farm".

I used a random number generator to choose the two winners. Congratulations to Diane and Linda for these winning comments:

Diane M.

"Back home on the farm now takes on a whole new meaning! I love the Hogs & kisses card. These are so cute & I like that they are not too “childish” …fantastic creativity!"

Linda M.

"Hi Karen, I love the new farm dies…the barn is so cute! Love them all!…."

Diane and Linda will each get to choose a prize pack based on the dies used in the March video or the dies used in the April video. I have discovered that I accidentally showed the Katie Label Accordion in the April prize pack when it was actually the Rectangle Accordion that I used in the video. Linda and Diane will get to decide which accordion they want if they choose the April pack.

February Secret Word Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Joyce, who entered and won this month's Secret Word Giveaway.

The secret word was to incorporate the word Artsy or the word Cutesy into a comment on the February Designer Challenge Post. A random number generator was used to pick the winner. Joyce's comment was the winning comment:

As always your cards are great. The video has so many ideas. Very artsy. Thank you.

She will get to choose her prize of either the two main dies used in my Artsy Card or the two main dies used in my Cutesy Card.

January Secret Word Giveaway Winner!

Congratulations to Diane, who was chosen by random draw as the winner of the January Secret Word Giveaway.

Each month I send one newsletter (it's truly all I can manage, so rest assured that I won't be deluging you with e-mails) on Designer Challenge day (or thereabouts) with the Secret Word to incorporate into your comment on the ECD blog post. In January's newsletter the readers received these instructions:

Since our theme this month is Triple Categories we're going to make the Secret Word something to do with the number 3. Use the word "3" or "Triple" in your comment OR simply repeat a word three times. (Wow! Wow! Wow!) OR list three cards you like from the challenge OR list three dies you want from the new collection OR use three words that mean the same thing (Fabulous! Sensational! Awesome!) OR well, you get the idea, get the idea, get the idea!
(See what I did there, did there, did there?)

Diane left this comment on the Designer Challenge post:

Love all your wonderful creations and dies….I don’t know why, but when I was reading your awesome newsletter, the first thing that came to mind was the song “You’re THREE Times A Lady”…do you remember that or am I aging myself…lol…lol…lol….Wow the design team certainly has outdone themselves once again…wonderful projects!! I want them ALL!!

A random number generator chose Diane as the winner and she will receive a Star Accordion die plus a Frame Edges die to fit her Accordion (her choice) so she, too, can be making Stacked Star Accordions like the one featured in this month's video tutorial:

Both options have easy "unsubscribe" if you change your mind.)

*NEW* Fall 2014 dies, plus Spooky Sept. Secret Word winner

Congratulations to Pammy B. for participating in the Spooky September Secret Word Giveaway. Her comment on the ECD blog post incorporating the secret word ("technique") was chosen by random draw.

I’m always open to new and fresh ideas so when you post a new technique that I can use I really appreciate it. Halloween is my most favorite holiday so I was really pleased to see all the awesome cards your design team came up with. Never stop inspiring us!!

Pam has won a Lorna Label Pop-up die plus her choice of Character die. (She chose Dutch the Fox)

  image from

Speaking of Character dies, meet the two newest Characters, Dutch the Fox and Honey the Bear:

946 - Dutch the Fox
946 - Dutch the Fox

We released the two new Characters at the Collins Show last weekend. The 75 retailers who attended the show and placed an order will be the first shipments and then the dies will ship out to all retailers who place an order.

This mini-release for me has a Birthday Theme, so there is a new Props 2 die set to fit any of the Characters:

949 - Props 2

Also released at this show is a new set of Frame Edges to fit the Ring Accordion die.

950 - Ring Frame Edges 1

You can see these four dies used together on this project, from the What a Bunch of Characters class:

And of course there must be a BRAND NEW interactive die in the release. Take a look at the new Happy Birthday Pop-up die:

947 - Happy Birthday PopUp

The script writing is my handwriting and if you are curious how many times I wrote the words "Happy Birthday" before I picked the best one to use it was 8,952 (or thereabouts!) Ha!

I love that the script words are on separate dies so you can use either word on its own and for card fronts, layouts, 3D projects, etc. Here is the birthday card the Collins Workshop attendees made. It's fun to have one of the Characters peeking out from behind the words and notice that the script dies also work great on the card's front.

Two more Collins class projects that featured the new Characters:

So how do you get your hands on these hot new dies? The quickest way is to ask your local store to order them. If they attended the Collins show and put in an order at the show, then the dies are shipping to the store right now. After those stores' orders are shipped the other store orders (from all over the world) will be shipped in the order they arrived.

Don't have a local store? Check the ECD website and when the "Sold Out" sign disappears then they are ready to order. (There isn't a "Coming Soon" option on our website - it's coming soon! Ha.)

Which is your favorite new Character? Dutch the Fox or Honey the Bear?

June *Secret Word* Giveaway Winners!

For the June Designer Challenge the theme was Photo Accordion albums. My team of 11 plus 3 guest designers took on the challenge to use any of the Pop it Ups Accordion Album dies for any length/theme album as long as it incorporated photos.

If you missed the Designer Challenge post last week, I encourage you to check it out. It's packed with inspiration on a variety of themes, including a new video tutorial from me for adding clear pages to albums, plus several team members used the two new Accordions coming in July: the Ring Accordion and the Katie Label Accordion.

903 - Katie Label Accordion903 - Katie Label Accordion

For the June Secret Word giveaway, members of my mailing list were instructed to use either the word Katie or the word Ring (or both) in their comment so they would be automatically entered into a random drawing to win one of the available now Accordions (Circle, Oval or Fancy) plus a set of companion Frame Edges to fit (Square w/Circle, Oval Dots, Oval Flourish or Fancy Frame Edges).

SW Giveaway Prizes

Since I had two teaching trips in May, I was unable to get a newsletter out with the Secret Word Giveaway so I promised my subscribers that I'd give away TWO prizes for June. A random number generator chose these two lucky winners:

Lisa G.:

At first I liked the look of the Katie label best, but I could see actually having a ring on my desk with pictures. It is very fancy looking and would class up my messy desk.

Carol S.:

I really enjoyed the video showing how to use clear pages with the Katie design. It was also great that you showed us how you fixed the card when it broke. Keep up the great work.

I will be e-mailing Lisa and Carol to find out which of the available-now Accordion Albums and Frame Edges they choose for their prize and then the dies will be sent from the warehouse in Colorado within a week or so.

Congratulations, Lisa and Carol!

If you want to join in the fun of the monthly Secret Word giveaways, plus stay informed of videos, new products and teaching dates, simply join my Mailing List by clicking the button below. You will receive one e-mail a month, normally on or around the Designer Challenge date. For July the Designer Challenge theme is Christmas (or other winter holiday) in July, and the team's projects, plus a new video from me, will be posted on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on July 16, 2014. (All the new Summer Release dies will be in stores by then!)

Secret Word Giveaway Winner for April

Thank you to Vivian, who e-mailed me to politiely inquire about April's giveaway winner since I had not *cough* posted said winner on my blog.

Uh oh.

I had forgotten to choose the winner. Sorry about that.

Rectified. chose this comment by Joy Hauck:

Loved all the beautiful creations by the design team and I’m looking forward to getting the new house die and the other soon to be revealed ones too!

Joy was supposed to win her very own House Pivot Card die set plus the All Seasons Tree set. However, since Joy had already purchased both dies, she chose to receive the Fancy Accordion Album and Fancy Frame Edges instead. Those will be speeding their way to Canada soon.

House Prize Pack

How did Joy win this glorious prize? She is a subscriber to my mailing list and receives one e-mail a month (seriously - it's all I can muster) where she is informed of the Secret Word. She left a comment on the Designer Challenge post using the Secret Word (it was "house") and just like that she was entered into the drawing.

If you want to join in the fun of the monthly Secret Word giveaways, plus stay informed of videos, new products and teaching dates, simply join my Mailing List by clicking the button below.

Snippets/Journey Card Class PLUS Secret Giveaway winner

This Friday I will be teaching my newest card class at The Collins Rep Group Fall Education Event in Houston. This event is open only to retailers, but I will be repeating this class for consumers at Scrapp'n Savvy in Spring, TX on Friday, October 25, 2013.

For North and South Carolina in early November, I will be using this class with one exception - the Halloween Card will be traded out for the Chair Card from the Journey class (the class favorite) since it will be after Halloween.

01 Spiral_Easel_Halloween

The first class card uses the Journey Pop 'n Cuts Square Base w/Ornate Edge, along with the Funky Label Framelits, to create a Spiral Easel Card. The card folds flat, as you see, and then when lifted, the spiral opens and causes the bats to fly. This card is desperately simple to make using just a few supplies. Here's what I used:

02 PopnCuts_Autumn_Card

The second class card combines two of the *NEW* Snippets Pop 'n Cuts inserts into one card. I've used both the Multi-Tier platform (very generic - you can make any sort of layered scene) with the new Sassy Label insert on the front. There is a companion Sassy Label Stitched Framelits set, which was used to make the greeting. I've also incorporated the Flagpole and *NEW* Chevron Border Sizzlits Decorative Strips.

Here are the supplies used in this card:

  03 PopnCuts_House_Christmas

Scroll one post down if you'd like to watch a video tutorial for using the *NEW* House Pop 'n Cuts insert along with the companion House Thinlits set. For this card, we'll style it as a cozy Christmas house.

Supplies used in the Christmas House Card:

04 Butterfly_Accordion_Card

Finally we will make a 3-page Accordion Album incorporating the *NEW* Stitched Framelits that coordinate with the Accordion Album and Frame & Label Bracket dies.

Supplies used on the Accordion Album:

To recap, here are my remaining teaching dates for 2013:

September 27-29, 2013 - The Collins Rep Group Fall Education Show - Retailers Only

October 10-12, 2013 - CKU Dallas - Journey Card Class

October 25, 2013 (this is a Friday) - Scrapp'n Savvy, Spring, TX - This class

November 5-10, 2013 - North and South Carolina Stores (This class with chair instead of Halloween)

Tuesday - Sandy's Scrapbook Corner in Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina
Wednesday - Enchanted Cottage in Lewisville, North Carolina
Thursday - Scrapbooks By The Sea in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Friday - The Stamping Place in West Columbia, South Carolina
Saturday - Dorothy's Stamps N Scraps in Boiling Springs, North Carolina and
Scrapbook Creations in Spartanburg, South Carolina (stores are 45 min. apart)
Sunday - The Stamping & Scrapbooking Room in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new faces.

This is the fourth card (to replace the Halloween card) for the North/South Carolina trip:
