Merry Christmas Y'all Pop-up Card
November 30, 2021
One of the things we strive to do with our brand is to make every new release backwards compatible with everything that came before. Here's a good example of that. For this card I've used four dies from our brand new November release combined with decorator pieces from several previously-released dies. It's Christmas on the bayou, y'all!
This is a top-fold 5x7 card. The front features the cattails from the Bayou Animals set along with the wreath from the Street Lantern Pop-up. The labels are a combination of the ones included in the Little Labels Pop-up and a couple larger ones from the Crosshatch Labels set. The borders come from our Border Blends - Trims set and the swags and bows from the Street Lantern Pop-up. The layered hearts are included in the Little Labels Pop-up set. (Supply links are at the end of this post.)
Open the card and the Little Labels Pop-up is revealed, raised higher in the card by using a simple box platform on the center fold. The box is a piece of cardstock cut to 6.5" x 3" and scored into two 1" panels with 0.5" tabs on each side. The tabs are used to attach the box to the card as shown below. By adding the center box, the Little Labels Pop-up can be installed on the upper fold of the box, elevating it in the card. Plus, the extra box platform adds another pop-up surface to decorate. Plan on a card height of at least 4.5" to hide the entire pop-up when done this way.
The greeting is our Merry Christmas script die plus the Merry Christmas Shadow. "Y'all" is made using our Alphabet dies. I used the Street Lantern swags and bows at the top.
To decorate the Little Labels themselves I used the decorator labels that come in the set, plus the Bayou Animals for the alligators and cattails. The flower comes included in the Bayou Animals and I cut it from red cardstock to resemble poinsettias. The little basket comes from the Spring Animals and the Santa hats from the Christmas Animals. The candy canes are from Gingerbread Tiny House Add-ons. To make mirror-image alligators and hats I cut one set from the back of the paper and then flipped them over. I sent the die cut pieces through my machine to flatten the edges.
The gold paper is an older Bo Bunny design from my stash. The red gingham is an older Pebbles design called Bougainvillea. The rest is just various reds, greens and white cardstock.
Here are the dies used on my card. I pulled decorator dies from a lot of sets, so if you'd like to give this one a try but are missing some of the dies, just look for suitable alternatives in your stash. The main dies you'll need are the Little Labels Pop-up and Bayou Animals.
