Let's look closer at the six new interactive dies in this release.

Train Pivot Panels - the newest in our popular series of Pivot Panels die sets is the Train Pivot Panels. The Train Elements set is the perfect add-on, including the tracks, crossing sign and All Aboard greeting. Our animal dies fit in the cars as an option, and the new Tiny Accessories 3 die set includes a train conductor's hat and bandana.

TrainPivotPanels

As with all of our Pivot Panels die sets, the Train Pivot Panels can be added to the Twist Panel die set (sold separately) to make an extra-dynamic pop-up card.

Train-Twist-Panel

Family Room Pop-up - Here's a pop-up that's specific . . . and yet generic! It's so customizable to whatever colors/patterns you choose. It has quick and easy assembly and a very impressive reveal. You can also customize it be adding any of our animal sets to the furniture. Add-on sets include Word Set 10 - Thinking of You, Home Sweet Home, and the Memory Charms.

FamilyRoom

The Memory Charms coordinate perfectly with the Family Room Pop-up, especially for the fronts of the cards.

FamilyRoomGetWell

Barn Pop Stand - by popular request we've brought back the Barn Pop Stand die set. The set has been expanded with extra duplicate pieces (no more double cutting the doors) and a couple of new pieces (hay, grass, window). The barn doors slide open to reveal something inside. We also have a brand-new add-on set called the Farm Edges, plus three animal sets, including a chicken, lamb, pig, goat, cow, longhorn, horse, unicorn and zebra! The Tiny Accessories 3 set includes a farmer/cowboy outfit for the animals and the new Howdy word makes a great greeting.

BarnPopStand

BarnHogsKisses

Triple Flip - our newest pull tab die set is the Triple Flip. It's sized for an A2 card, at 5.5" wide. Pull the tab and all three rectangles flip over at the same time. The rectangles are sized to fit our charm sets and animal dies perfectly. It's shown here with our new Happy Hour Charms and Cheers word.

TripleFlip

Here's another Triple Flip card, this time combining the Space, Happy Hour and Birthday Charms and staggering the locations of the rectangles.

TripleFlipSpace

Rocket Pop-up -the Space Charms are also a great add-on to the new Rocket Pop-up. This fun mechanism will launch the rocket as the card is opened. The rocket can be use independently as a stand alone element and this pop-up also makes great window cards. The Enjoy the Ride word set goes nicely with the Rocket and the Train Pivot Panels.

RocketPopUp

I will be teaching a two-card class at Scrapp'n Savvy in Conroe, Texas, on Wednesday using the new dies. We will be making this bright and fun Rocket Pop-up card in class. It also uses the Space Charms, Enjoy the Ride and our Crosshatch shape dies.

RocketCard

Photo Collage Pop-up - if you're looking for a completely generic but massively WOW pop-up die, you'll love the Photo Collage Pop-up. This fun mechanism twists and expands to reveal eight photo frames in a fun collage bulletin board style. The photo frames can be filled with our animals, charms, your favorite stamps, or actual photos. Accessories that come included in the set are push pins, binder clips, a ticket and the word "smile". Great add-ons are the Memory Charms and Home Sweet Home word set.

Photocollage

The Photo Collage Pop-up will also work wonderfully on scrapbook pages or to make a truly personalized card featuring photos. Here's a birthday card where I used pictures of my twins from age 3 to age 20. The photo frame fits square 1.25" photos. This sample also uses the little camera from the Memory Charms set.

PhotoCollageKidsBday

Scrapp'n Savvy students on Wednesday will get to try this die and make a birthday-themed card. One frame will be left open for a photo of the recipient. On my sample card I used a photo of myself on my 9th birthday, wearing my favorite Mork 'n Mindy tee-shirt that said "Shazbot". (Nanu nanu!)

PhotoCollage copy

Scrapp'n Savvy Students please bring these supplies to class:

  • Scissors
  • All types of adhesive including glue with a fine tip, tape runner, mini glue dots, double-sided tape and pop dots
  • Black pen for pig feet and snout
  • Bone folder
  • Quickstik or tweezers for placing small pieces
  • Optional: if you have a photo of the birthday recipient, bring it sized at 1.25" square. Otherwise, plan to add it at home later.

We are introducing the collection today as a Sneak Peek and opening our website for pre-orders at 8 am, Eastern time. Our shipping starts July 15th in the order received.

I am plugging away on assembly videos and will be uploading them over the next couple of weeks as I complete them. The Design Team has been making AMAZING cards with the dies and they are free to start posting their cards on their blogs today, so definitely check out those blogs (there's a clickable list in the sidebar at left) and I also suggest "liking" our Facebook Page and joining our fun Facebook group Karen Burniston Pop-up Peeps. Fathers Day Pop-up Card

For this month's Paper Pros challenge the theme was to be inspired by one of my previous videos to make a new version.

I decided to revisit the video I created for Designer Challenge 20 that featured a mash-up of the Woven Basket Box Card with the Coffee Cup Pop-up die set.

Katie (she's a Puggle) refused to move out of the way so she is making a cameo in this little preview video and was interested in the card only to see if it contained anything edible. It did not. Poor Katie.

FathersDay

This is a standard top fold A2 card. The front is very simple, made with the Outdoor Edges die set and paper and cardstock scraps from my stash.

FathersDayOutdoorsBasketFront

Open the card to reveal the pop-up basket, made with red plaid paper. The pop-up combines the Woven Basket Box Card with the mechanism of the Coffee Cup Pop-up.

FathersDayOutdoorsBasketOpen

The filling is a combination of the Outdoor Edges, plus a few decorator trees from the Evergreen Pivot Panels. The small lantern from the Camping Charms hangs from twine on the front of the basket.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge 22: Beach Day!

I love this month's challenge! The theme is Beach Day and the team will definitely inspire you with their cards below.

For my video I'm combining the mechanism from the Ice Cream Sundae Pop-up and then decorating it with the Castle Pop-up, Beach Charms, Tropical Scene and Word Set 6 - Summer

SandcastlePopUp

Learn how to make this card by watching the full video tutorial here:

This card is a top-fold A2 size, 4.25" x 5.5" when folded, so it will mail easily in an A2 envelope. The front of the card is a simple lead-in made with leftover materials.

KB_Sandcastle_Front

Open the card to reveal a pop-up sandcastle, complete with drawbridge. The Beach Charms give the pop-up some color and whimsy.

KB_Sandcastle_Open

Because the flamingo and beach ball are attached to the angled platforms of the pop-up, (using clear extender strips) they will move outward as the card is opened and then tuck back in when the card is closed.

Frances Byrne made this delightful Oval Frames Pop-up beach scene featuring an ice-cream loving crab duo and a serene scene revealed in the ovals. This is a card with so many thoughtful details and a beautiful mix of scale. Add this to my Frances-Favorites pile. (Hint - it's a very large pile!)

Irene Mendes has the amazing ability to seamlessly combine paper elements with die cut elements. This month's card is no exception, with the Oval Frames Pop-up decorated beautifully in a seaside theme. Notice that among her patterned elements are dies mixed in - the pail and shovel and the clouds - and yet everything feels cohesive. Love this!

IM_BeachOvalFrames

Karen Aicken focused on all the beach-themed decorator dies to style them wonderfully with inks and then created a diorama card to show them off. She teaches the entire diorama technique, so definitely click over to her blog to learn how to do this. From freckles to googly eyes Karen has thought of everything with this fun card.

Kelly Booth has been rocking the technique from last month's challenge video - to create a stage using the bottom tier of the Cake Pop-up. This is such a fun island! The crab is stealing flip flops, the shark is checking things out and the sun blazes bright behind the palms. Tucking a square behind the sand is also a great look to this delightful card.

KB_BeachStagePopUp

Fran Sabad created two cards for the challenge. This first one, featuring several dies layered to create a sandcastle birthday scene, is amazing. The Rockin' Rectangle provides the action, but she's layered in many other dies. Such a great way to really maximize your collection by mixing between the sets.

FS_KB-Rockin-Rectangle

Fran's second Rockin' Rectangle beach card is a window card and features stamped and colored images. Another great way to get maximum value from a die set - to mix it with decorator stamps and dies from your collection and also to vary the assembly. Try window cards, top fold cards, doubled cards, etc. with this die.

FS_KB-Rockin-Rectangle2

Lois Bak also created two cards for the challenge. First up is a Circle Tag Book featuring an excellent mix of patterned paper, dies and stamps. I love her double stripe details and the chic look of elements against white backdrops.

LB_June DC Sandy Toes

Lois also made this wonderfully-layered Rockin' Rectangle card. Her use of photorealistic papers makes the scenery come to life. I love the palm trees in the distance behind the pop-up and punch of red from the crabs. Beautiful!

LB_DC Beach Scene

Sandy Diller created the perfect beach chair and as I listen to the rain falling steadily outside I certainly wish I was at Sandy's beach instead! Notice her excellent inking of the edges and palms, plus the vellum clouds and peeking sun. Fabulous details in this serene and lovely card.

SD_AdirondackBeach

Kelly Booth posted another card for the challenge and it's an amazing mix of beautiful colors and beachy goodness. This Upsy Daisy card features several dies mixed to perfection. Kelly's eye for color is exquisite.

KB_BeachUpsyDaisy

Well I don't know about you, but I feel beachy keen after all that wonderful inspiration. Join us next month on July 3, 2019 for our next Designer Challenge with a theme of PICTURE THIS! We will all be incorporating photos into our challenge cards. We will also be free to use dies from our July release. Plan on sneak peeks starting on June 24, 2019 with shipping expected mid-July. There are 20 dies in the collection.
