Pop it Ups 2016 CHA Mega Show - Make 'n Takes

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . which for me means paper is flying everywhere. No, I don't mean wrapping paper, I mean cardstock and patterned paper, being cut into the pieces for CHA Make 'n Takes.

This year I'm focusing all of my CHA education efforts at our booth with our customers. No need to pay for a class when you can come get a free class at the booth, in the form of a different Make 'n Take on each of the three full days of the trade show.

I'm focusing primarily on products from the new Pop it Ups collections - High Jinks, Coffee & Cake and Stage it Stencils.

The High Jinks collection is named as a little play on words for Jinks the Monkey (short for hijinks) and an elements of flying/adventure. The Oval Pull Card features a Slot & Slider to get fun action inside a card. There's also a Barrel Basket (so named because it resembles a barrel and can hold the monkey) and a Hot Air Balloon that each come with a very generic little box platform pop-up die for when you want to make pop-ups with them. The Oval Landscape Accordion is the same outer shape/dimensions as the popular Gift Card Accordion and you'll be able to mix and match the pages and the frames on both. The Pull Card Edges will give you the option to add patterned paper with a small shadow around any of the Pull Cards - the Rectangle, Spiral Circle and new Oval. However, it also makes for a great all-purpose die and you'll see it used a lot in other ways. The two small affordable Clear Stamp sets provide perfectly-sized greetings to fit/match the collection. Finally, I know you probably didn't realize how much you were missing a Bananas embossing folder in your craft collection . . . well the wait is over!

The Coffee & Cake collection is just what you need for crafting up a tasty card. The two-tier Cake has a fun triple-platform on top to hold candles and/or strawberries for birthday, wedding and more. The Cup Pop Stand is the perfect choice for coffee, tea, cocoa or for holding a Character die. Speaking of Characters, meet Baker the Beaver (A year ago my friend Angela Beavers gave me a list of 10 reasons I needed to design a beaver die, and she made a great case!) Baker comes with a cute little cupcake and looks adorable wearing the chef's hat from Props 8. The Hanging Charm Pull Tab die is a fun take on a standard pull tab pop-up by incorporating a frame with a hanging element. The set comes with four possible charms to hang in the opening. Rounding out the collection is a coffee bean embossing folder and two small Clear Stamp sets (3" x 4") featuring greetings to match the collection.

A new category of product for me is stencils. With pop-up cards you're always looking for background options and stencils work just great to fill in the space behind the pop-up or on the front of the card. (You know, to set the stage!) Of course you can use these stencils for so much more than just pop-up cards. Use them with sprays, pastes, paints, inks, chalks, etc. for any type of mixed media project, home decor, scrapbooking, card making, etc. The Coffee stencil is designed to pair perfectly with the Cup Pop Stand to add a flourish detail to the cup and saucer, plus the beans portion of the stencil is repeatable in all directions. The all-over pattern stencils include small flowers, medallions, paisley and swirly flourish. There's also a stencil called Partly Cloudy to give you options for sky scenes. Each stencil is 5" x 7" on the outer dimensions with a pattern area of 4 3/8" x 6 1/8". They come with a hole in the corner to store them on a ring, and the brand and item number is etched into the top of the stencil so you won't have to wonder where they came from. The price is very affordable and the quality is great. I'm excited!

Learn more about some of the new products by watching the how-to videos for the three Make 'n Take Projects. Here they are:

If you are a retailer coming to CHA I encourage you to stop by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Booth #775 to make these projects (while supplies last) and receive full instructions, supply lists and even special bundle pricing on the materials to repeat the Make 'n Takes in your store.

The team has been working for a month on booth samples and you'll definitely want to come check out their work in the booth. You'll start seeing those samples show up on their blogs in the coming weeks as well.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
