For some reason our childhood birthdays came with a painful ritual - an adult relative (Grandpa, uncle, etc.) would spank us (one swat for every year) and then end it by saying "and a pinch to grow an inch" and then, you guessed it, we'd get a pinch.
Oh I know.
This should probably be one of those Facebook posts "If you remember being spanked and pinched on your birthday while all your relatives watched and laughed, hit LIKE!"
But hey, half the fun of parenting is shocking our children with stories of our tragic youth. (You know, when the internet was called "Encyclopedia Britannica")
Today I'm sharing a Ring Accordion that is sure to end up being sent to a family member who remembers this tradition. It really did seem like the perfect saying to go with Rocky the Crab.
I cut three Ring Accordion pages from two colors of teal cardstock and decorated the rings with a combination of the open scallop frame edge that comes included with the Ring Accordion and the Ring Frame Edges 1 die set.
For the "a pinch to grow an inch" I used an old squeeze labelmaker that I've had for years. The candles are from the Funky Cakes peel-off sticker sheet, stuck to white cardstock, colored and fussy cut. I used my new Farm Greetings Clear Stamps for the Happy Birthday greeting and then cut it out with a tag from the Tags Pivot Card.
All of these supplies are available at independent craft stores in your area (hopefully) but here are online links if not. Happy crafting!
