Pop[up] Spotted: Wendee is teaching Pop 'n Cuts for Stamp Camp!

It was my pleasure to see my friend Wendee in Chicago when I taught at Stamp, Scrap 'n More. I always appreciate her (and her husband) making the drive each year.

Wendee sent me a link to her blog post about demo'ing Pop 'n Cuts at her next Stamp Camp at All About Pictures, in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

You can see pictures of Wendee's cards and learn more about her upcoming teaching schedule here: Wendee Deal.

CHA-S 2012 Bigz Accordion Flip Album

Greetings from Chicago!

After teaching every day for the last four days, I'm looking forward to a more relaxed day of just demo'ing the new products in the booth.

I thought I would share photos of one of the projects I taught using the new Bigz Accordion Flip Album. This die will be available in October 2012 and is part of the Hearth and Home collection.

The album, when folded up, can be easily put into an envelope and mailed. You can add as many pages as you like to the album by simply cutting more pages and attaching them to the chain using the onboard tabs.

EDITED TO ADD: came by and filmed a little demo on this die:

Both dies will be available online and in stores October 2012. Here are the item numbers:

Sizzix #658035 Bigz Accordion Album, Flip, 3D by Karen Burniston

Sizzix #658037 Bigz Frame Label, by Karen Burniston

CHA-S 2012 Sneak Peek Video - new Pop 'n Cuts!

I'm heading out dark and early for CHA tomorrow morning, and here's what I've been up to!

The Hearth & Home collection is my biggest release to date. There are 17 dies in the collection including:

(4) Bigz Interactive/Pop-up Dies

(5) Bigz Accessory Dies

(6) Pop 'n Cuts Inserts

(2) Sizzlits Sets (these two sets will perfectly decorate five of the new Pop 'n Cuts inserts)

Today's sneak peek is a mini-album I finished up today showing the new Pop 'n Cuts Inserts and Sizzlits. You'll also see two of the new Bigz accessory dies in the video.

Hearth & Home dies will ship in October of this year.

If you're coming to CHA, come see me in the Sizzix booth. I'll be demo'ing every day along with my friend and Sizzix DT member Gretchen Schmidt.

And now I'd better finish packing!

Pop[up] Spotted: Gretchen's Pop 'n Cuts tutorial with Framelits

I absolutely adore this card that Gretchen made me for my birthday! (Actually, she never said it was for my birthday, but I'm sure after seeing this gushy blog post in her honor . . .)

You can learn a lot of cool techniques in her tutorial on the Sizzix blog today, including how to use Framelits dies to add a decorative border around your PNC piece. (Cool cats abbreviate "Pop 'n Cuts" to PNC. "Cool" is pronounced "lazy")

Pop 'n Cuts are shipping now, so ask at your local store. And if they haven't ordered them, just ask them to. It's OK. Just say "I am in desperate need of some Sizzix Pop 'n Cuts dies so I can make quick, easy and dynamic pop-up cards to impress my friends and family, who will say that I am brilliant, and talented, and insist that I spend more time and money on paper crafts because I'm so good at it. I notice that you sell Sizzix products but I don't see Pop 'n Cuts here. Can you order them for me? I'd like the entire collection, item numbers #657788-657802." (Or something similar. Heh)

In other news, Gretchen and I leave insanely early for CHA tomorrow.

Text exchange:

Gretchen: What time are we leaving on Saturday?

Me: Practically Friday! 2.5 hours before our flight time. When is our flight?

Gretchen: 7am

Me: Pick you up at 4:30 then. Sorry.

Gretchen: Good Lord. Is there a Starbucks at the airport?

Here is our schedule of events:

Saturday July 14th - 1-3 pm - Pop 'n Cuts Demonstration, Stamp Thyme, Lockport IL

Sunday July 15th - 11:30 - 2 pm - Pop 'n Cuts Card Class, Lorraine's Memories, Woodstock, IL (I believe this class is sold-out, but she might have one more take-home kit, so call the store if interested)

Sunday July 15th - 4-6:30 pm - Pop 'n Cuts Card Class, Stamp, Scrap 'n More, Mundelein, IL (A week ago there were a couple of spots left, but I haven't heard an update, so call the store if interested)

Monday - Thursday - Craft and Hobby Show, retailers only.

I am trying to finish up some samples of my new dies. If you check back here later (much later, like this evening) you may find some sneak peeks. Maybe. If I have a very productive day, that is.

Anyone who has read my blog from the beginning (2005) knows that I used to end each post with a quote from my favorite movie of all time, The Princess Bride. (A line from that movie is my blog's title, by the way, not a prejudice against lefties, as some have accused me of over the years) Once I had quoted the entire movie I used to end with funny quotes from my kids. They still say funny stuff, but it's not exactly adorable. More like sarcastic. Apple, meet tree.

So I am moving into Phase 3, where I end each post with one of my favorite drawings from Draw Something, my current procrastination addiction. Here is today's offering:

Pop[up] Spotted: Donna Gibson's Italian Suitcase!

Wow! Wowie wow wow! You've got to check out Donna Gibson's amazing card for her traveling-to-Italy niece. Click the photo below to go to Donna's blog post, where you'll find additional photos, supplies and instructions.

I love how she used the ZigZag pop-up die, cut out of acetate so it disappears and acts just as a pop-up mechanism.

Love it, Donna!
